What I'm Reading Now

Farm Sanctuary by Gene Baur

It is a book about current practices in industrial farming. Reading about the methods of raising cattle, pigs and chickens for mass food production just takes your breath away in the scope of its cruelty and distain for the most basic needs of the animals as well as the workers. However, I most enjoyed the individual profiles of rescued animals. Gene Baur is an excellent writer, very sensitive to both the animals he is defending and the people who read about the appalling practices in our food production industry.

American Bald Eagle

My husband's class saw 21 Bald Eagles during a recent field trip to the Susquehanna River in Harford County, Maryland. Amazing !
I wasn't able to download photos from the field trip because they were too large for the blog. So I found this photo taken at Octoraro, Maryland. This and other local eagle photos can be found at farm1.static.flickr or just google images of eagles in Maryland.

Hubble Telescope Images

Today we went to the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore. The museum had Hubble Telescope images from outer space and deep space. They were extraordinary. Simply beautiful!

The Walters is free. Check out the museum website.

Return to Blogging

It has been a while since I last posted. With the New Year comes new learning experiences and exciting times. I will begin a comprehensive library training course in February. LATI, Library Associate Training Institute, will be 16 weeks of on-line and face-to-face training in the latest information and knowledge required for the 21st century. New skills and expanding lines of communication and creativity are the goals I hope to achieve. Stay tuned....
